Blue Ball Heritage Jar Line

How cool is this? For those of you who have a hard time finding the authentic vintage blue canning jars, you can purchase the new heritage jars for a limited time!  Here is what the Ball website says about them...I found them online at Kmart and Amazon.  I'm guessing they are other places too but in my small town we only have a Safeway and a Walmart, so most stuff I have to leave town to purchase on buy online:)

2013 marks the 100th anniversary of the first series of jars designed by Ball brothers, each jar intended to be better than the one before. 1913 saw the launch of the first true "Perfect Mason" jar. These limited edition blue Ball jars are a celebration of the heritage featuring period-correct blue color and embossed logos on the front and back. These vintage-inspired blue jars maintain all of our modern standards for quality and reliability. Perfect for all of your home canning needs... or as a collectible item!

Easter Frenchie

Oh man, Valentine's Day flew by and as new parents, we were dead tired and in bed by 8 pm! I did get a little tiny bit of Valentine's day decorating done in the house, but not much!  All my time is devoted to baby now!  I'm sure I will have more time later, as she grows older but for now, I am pretty tied up meeting all of her sweet demands:)

The next holiday to celebrate will be Easter!  I love this picture of our French Bulldog on last year's Easter.  He was a good sport and let me put pink ears on him!  Ha!  As you can see, he looks totally thrilled!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day this year and I am looking forward to celebrating Easter with our baby girl this year!

Memory Jars

I thought I would post what I did for my co-workers this last year 2012, for Christmas gifts. It is something that I think is easy, cute and practical! I did "Memory Jars" for the year 2013. I have been collecting vintage blue canning jars and had some great finds over the summer at estate sales. There is a neat website that will help you date your blue Ball brand canning jars. Did you know that Ball brand stopped making blue canning jars in 1937? Pretty neat! So, if you find a blue Ball brand canning jar, you will know that it is from somewhere between the late 1890's and 1937. So the point of a memory jar is to collect your funny happenings or good memories throughout the year and put safely into the canning jar. One New Year's eve, at the very end of the year, you take the "memories" out and read them! Fun! Anyways, to cuten them up, I printed out the instructions and glued them to Christmas scrap book paper and used scalloped scissors to cut the tags out. I also bought some "fat quarter" fabric at Wally World and cut to fit under the jar lids. I then filled the jars with gourmet chocolates.

I also made Salted Carmel Chocolate Bark and also Cinnamon Whipped Honey. If you click on my Recipe link under the "Labels" section of the side of this blog, you can find both great and easy recipes:)

2012 Vintage Christmas bauble wreaths

I wasn't able to post these prior to Christmas for fear of friends and family seeing the wreaths before I presented them but here are my wreaths I did for Christmas presents this year...all glass ornaments (with the exception of 1960's made in Japan and also 1960's "Satin Shiny s", all vintage and some vintage tinsel garland even and all made by me:)

My Mom's, all "pinks and greens"

My sister's, she asked for a "Scandinavian Christmas" theme

My sister in law's, she wanted "all blue"

One of my BFF's, Emily, "multi-color"

We have our Happy Holiday baby!

Thank you to those of you blog friends kind enough to check in on our baby status.  Our sweet baby girl with a middle name of "Winter" arrived Dec. 19th at 4:44 AM in the middle of a big snow storm.  My hubby took this photo just hours after she was born.  We are very happy and tired parents:)

My ability to blog has changed.  Not sure how often I will be updating on here now that we are finally a mom and dad but I am sure some day, I will be able to blog more about my favorite hobby...the holidays:)

CLOSED--A Happy Holiday Girl Blog Giveaway!

Okay, okay, I have been wanting to do a little Happy Holiday Girl Blog "giveaway" for a long time now! I've had a difficult time trying to figure out something worthy and fun to give away. Well, I hope I have chosen something fun that people will enjoy winning. Earlier this summer, I found a pair of vintage Christmas bauble earrings at a local thrift store that I thought were so cute!

Here they are...cute, right?  They inspried me.

Well, with all of my vintage Christmas ornament shopping I do for wreath making, I thought maybe I could make some pairs of my own and so I did.

Here are mine that I made.  They are all glass and all vintage (except for the earring posts are brand new). The colors include silver, dark blue, dark green, silver/red with indents, light blue, light green, pink and silver/red.

So, if you would like to win a pair please leave a comment telling me which color you like and ALSO become a "follower" of this blog.  One week from today, Sunday, Dec. 1st we will randomly pick two winners to receive a pair each. I will mail the earrings out to you with plenty of time to wear them before Christmas:)

CLOSED:

I had my husband pick two random numbers between 1 & 5 (he didn't know what he was doing it for).  He chose, #2 & #3.  That means that Tammy and Jill are the winners:) Tammy did you want the green ones on the left or the right, in the photo?  Jill, I know you want the red indent ones---unless either of you change your minds and want something different. Please send me your address to my email account happyholidaygirl@gmail.com

Better do it quick too cause I might have a baby any day now!  LOL!
